This approach makes learning relevant and customizes contents that cater to the approach of individualized teaching making learning a fun. Experiential Learning is part of holistic education promoted by Educational Boards. This method gives maximum exposure of the outside world to the students so that they imbibe Knowledge, Values and Etiquettes, Culture and Skill, to become human beings with broader spectrum which is the need of the times in a diversified country like India. Thus, to provide ample opportunities for learning, students of all classes are also taken on Field Trips, Treks, Camps and Excursions to places of interest. Based on the performance of the students in such activities, marks/grades are awarded and reflected in the Report Card.
Hands-on learning is a new way of engaging students in well-planned activities that help them learn concepts taught in the classroom in a more experiential manner. Through this method, students achieve the highest level of understanding of concepts. At GPS Bagodar we believe that "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand." We believe that learning should enable students to engage with the real world; Hands-on learning enables each child to learn concepts in their own unique way. While textbooks present ready-made information to children, activities allow them to experience and understand the concepts taught. Hands-on learning enables students to observe and question scientific phenomena. Such an approach shifts the educational emphasis from rote learning to learning through experience, from teacher-centered classrooms to enjoyable learner-centered activities, and from factual information to knowledge.
GPS Bagodar follows the idea of learning through nature and this idea has made us analyses the necessity of experiential learning. Our school takes students for excursion to sanctuaries, national parks and historical sites etc. where apart from textbook content our students get the scope to connect with what they experience.
To make the students self-reliant, to make them understand the problem and to boost their problem-solving skills, the school assigns surveys related to different social, physical and moral aspects, making the children inclined to understand the needs and requirements of the society. This approach helps students to develop their view by self-analyzing a situation and aiding them in perfecting their decision-making capacity. The students thus become more conscious a human, manifesting a sensitive approach and attitude.
The school believes that the importance of sports and games is much more than just the benefits of physical activity. It increases self-esteem and mental alertness. Sports are an integral part of school education and inculcate a sense of self-confidence, self-reliance, discipline, justice, fair play and patriotism. There is a spacious playground of about 8200 square meters. The school also has basketball court, volleyball court and badminton court. We have arrangements for sports like kabaddi, kho-kho, long jump, high jump and shot put. The school has a vision to promote indigenous sports and thus the introduction of archery is imminent. The indoor sports area has facilities for table tennis, carrom board, chess and badminton. Strives for the betterment of physical health and sports among school children.
